RC Campus Life (“the App”) is an independent app provided by its developer (“we,” “us,” “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how. We've built the App to need as little of your information as possible.
RC Campus Life is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to Roanoke College. References to Roanoke College and its events are descriptive only.
The short version
- You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name, email, or other personal details to use the App.
- We don't track you, we don't collect your location, and we never sell your data or use it for advertising.
- The only information tied to your device is a push-notification token — and only if you turn notifications on.
Information we handle
Push notification token. If you choose to enable notifications, Apple's Push Notification service issues a token that identifies your device (not you personally). We store this token so we can send you event announcements and reminders. If you turn notifications off — in the App or in iOS Settings — the token is removed and is no longer used.
Saved events. Events you save are stored locally on your device. They are not linked to your identity on our servers.
Routine technical data. Like any app that loads content over the internet, our servers receive ordinary requests when the App fetches event listings and images. We use this only to deliver content and keep the service running — not to build a profile of you.
How we use information
- To show you Roanoke College campus events and related images.
- To send the notifications you've opted into.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the App.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
- We do not use your information for third-party advertising.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not collect your precise or approximate location.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run the App:
- Supabase — hosts our database and stores event content and push-notification tokens.
- Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — delivers notifications to your device.
- Vercel — hosts this website.
These providers process information only to provide their services to us.
Your choices
You're in control of notifications. You can turn them off at any time in the App or in iOS Settings → Notifications → RC Campus Life. Because the App doesn't hold an account or personal profile about you, there's no personal account to access or delete; if you have a question about information related to your device, email us and we'll help.
Data retention
We keep a device's push-notification token only while notifications are enabled. Tokens that are disabled or become invalid are removed. Event content is retained as long as it's relevant to campus programming.
Security
Information is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and access to our backend is restricted to authorized administrators.
Children's privacy
The App is intended for a general audience interested in Roanoke College campus events. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “Effective” date above, and significant changes will be noted in the App.
